Evaluation of axial length changes between pre and postoperative measurements – A pilot study
Due to cataract being the leading cause of blindness worldwide and the more frequent use of lens exchange in presbyopia correction, accurate biometry measurements and objective assessment of cataract is required. An axial length (AL) measurement error of 0.1 mm corresponds to a postoperative refractive error of 0.3 diopters. A study conducted by Drexler at al. accounted the AL measurement errors to differences between pre- and postoperative AL values due to changes of the lens induced by cataract. Aim of this study is to evaluate the magnitude in pre and postoperative measurements of AL.
